Koh lanta an island of wonderful beaches facing magical sunsets in the west, diving and snorkeling paradise, verdant jungle of tropical rain forest, tranquil and privacy.

The island was discovered for tourism just a few years ago. Nightlife is there for those who want it, but the wild parties of Phi Phi and bustling street life of Ao Nang are not for Koh Lanta people. Small, friendly beach bars rule here - day and night.

A paved road runs along the beaches all the way from the northern part of the island to the headquarters of the Mu Koh Lanta National Park in the south. The landscape is dominated by a series of mountains covered with virgin rainforest. To the east features an old community.

The district office was previously here and later relocated to Koh Lanta Noi. Most people on the island are Muslim.
